Abstract
Inflammatory diseases of the cornea, its injuries and burns are the leading causes of decreased vision, blindness and death of the eye. The search for the new and effective methods of treating corneal diseases with a recurrent course is a pressing issue. This article is devoted to modern information on the possibilities of using Amniotic Membrane (AM) in the treatment of patients with severe corneal pathology: persistent epithelial erosions, corneal perforations and disorders associated with limbal stem cell deficiency. The advantages and disadvantages of various methods of AM preservation, methods of using AM in surgical and conservative treatment, as well as various complications that may be encountered when using AM are presented.
